Here at Modern Rugs we’ve seen an increased demand for washable rugs, especially throughout the winter months when more dirt tends to be brought into the home. We’ve responded by introducing a diverse range of brand new washable rug ranges for 2010 which are stylish, easy to maintain and very competitively priced.

The first of our new washable rug ranges are some cotton chenille rugs which are available in two styles called Boxer Chenille and Olympic Chenille. Both ranges are made from 100% cotton chenille and come in a range of plain colours and are fully machine washable. The Boxer Chenille range has a soft shaggy pile and comes in 4 sizes including a round size. The Olympic Chenille rugs have a shorter pile length but much thicker strands of cotton chenille and come in 3 sizes up to a 160 x 230cm.

The next of our new washable rugs is a shaggy range called Orion. Available in three sizes including a circular size the Orion rugs also feature a non-slip latex backing. We are currently These dark chocolate brown rugs only come in one colour but we will be looking to expand the selection of colours in this range later this year.

Our traditional Greek Flokati rugs have a 100% wool pile and are fully machine washable. Our Natural Ivory Flokati was hugely popular with our customers in 2009, so for 2010 we’ve added 4 new colours which include burgundy, chocolate, duck egg blue and mink.

Many people aren’t aware that Sheepskin rugs are also machine washable on a low temperature. To keep your sheepskin looking like new after it has been washed you should wait for it to dry and then brush / comb the pile with a pet brush to de-tangle the pile. This year we’ve expanded our collection of sheepskin rugs adding some brand new fashionable colours including teal blue, purple, mink and berry.

The last two washable collections are our highly fashionable Jeff Banks acrylic rugs and our Kudos rugs. Both of these ranges feature rugs made from a 100% fine acrylic pile which is full washable. However given that the sizes go up to 200 x 300cm you would have trouble fitting them in most washing machines. We therefore recommend that you clean these rugs with a carpet shampoo (such as Rug Doctor) and luke warm water. These ranges have some of the most stylish and innovative designs of any washable rugs as well as being excellent quality.
